Throw wads of paper

March 25th, 2007

It’s hard to find a game with a unique theme. Monsters? *yawn* Space? *yawn*

But have you ever heard of one where you toss wads of paper? No? Neither had I, until today. It looks easy at first, but it’s fiendishly difficult. Each time you toss a wad of paper into the basket, the wind direction changes. So each toss is different, making the game more challenging.

I’ve only managed to get one piece of paper in so far, darn. How many can you get into the basket?

Cool ASCII art!

March 18th, 2007

Making ASCII art is hard, even for some of the most simple things. Making complex art is much more difficult, pretty much impossible to do by hand. And most computer programs tend to not do the art so well.

But I have found the ASCII-O-Matic! It create smallish ASCII art in either black and white or color and with either letters or colored squares. It’s pretty good and you can tell what most of the stuff is, which is more than you can say for most ASCII art generators.

I just have to force myself to stop playing with it…

Whatever happened to flying cars?

March 11th, 2007

Once upon a time, we were told that in 50 years we’d have flying backpacks, flying cars and we’d be living on the moon. Whatever happened to that?! I want my flying car. I want to live on the moon. At the very least, I want to be able to visit a cool space station.

Alas, I’m not sure any of that’s going to happen in the next 50 years. Will anything like Star Trek ever happen (without the faster-than-light travel, presumably)?

Not QUITE a game…

But this thing is cool anyway. It’s a sort of a drawing program, only it draws with… well, you have to see it.

I don’t think you could really do anything useful with this little applet, but it is fun to play with anyway. I saw a different one awhile back that had more colors, but I cannot find the link now. Oh well.
